Larimar is a variety of pectolite containing cobalt, with clouds of light blue, white and turquoise.This unique blue gemstone from the Caribbean was first discovered almost 50 years ago in the Dominican Republic. The name is the combination of the girl's name "Larissa" and the Spanish word "Mar" for "sea". It is mainly cut as a cabochon.
